Functional genomics of Drosophila gene expression

Changes in levels of gene expression are thought to play an important role in adaptation. We are using several experimental approaches to investigate gene expression variation in Drosophila and the regulatory sequences that control expression. This includes microarray analysis of gene expression differences among natural and/or laboratory strains of Drosophila melanogaster. We are also using molecular cloning and transgenic methods to test the functions of specific gene regulatory sequences.
