Please note that during the EES Orientation in October, we will help international students to enroll at the International Office! However, all students will have to do all of the "pre-enrollment" activities (see below) on their own, before orientation starts.

Contents

Location

  • The enrollment offices are located at the main LMU campus: Ludwigstr. 27
  • The offices normally open at 8am. It is highly encouraged that you arrive early! Lines form quickly, and they can easily waste half of your day.
  • You can get to the offices by taking the U6 (subway) line to Universitaet.

Pre-Enrollment Activities

  • Before you go to the offices in person, you will need to fill out an online matricluation form.
  • This form can be found here. Once you navigate to the page, go to the bottom and click "Weiter zum Online-Immatrikulationsantrag." Unfortunately, there is no English version.
  • Once you are finished filling out the form, print the completed form with the matriculation number (Matrikelnummer), because you will need this when you go to the offices.

Enrolling In-Person

  • Once you've completed the online form, you will need to go enroll in-person at Ludwigstr. 27.
  • Before you go, though, make sure that you have the following documents:
    • Valid passport
    • 2 passport pictures
    • Letter of acceptance from the LMU
    • Proof of German health insurance (Krankenversicherungsbescheinigung).
    • Official transcripts, or proof of degree
    • Confirmation of acceptance from the head of the selection committee of the EES Master's Program (John Parsch)
    • If you have studied at a German university before, you will need a certification of exmatriculation (Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung) from the previously attended university.
    • Your printed online matriculation form
  • When you first arrive at Ludwigstr. 27, you will need to go to the proper room (Hoersaal) for online matriculation (there is a separate room for those who have not filled out the online form). It is likely that there will be signs directing you to the proper room.
    • At this location, they will double-check your paperwork to make sure everything is in order, enter you into the computer, give you a sticker, and give you a number.
  • Once you have been "pre-processed," you will need to go to the Office for International Students (Akademisches Auslandsamt).
    • When you immediately enter Ludwigstr. 27, there are stairs leading to the left. The Office for International Students is down this hallway and on the right-hand side.
    • Wait until your number is called.
      • Your papers will then be looked at again, and if everything is present, you will get a sheet of paper with your Student ID (Studentnachweis), certificate for the mass transit system, as well as some certificates of enrollment (Matrikulationsbescheinigung). Keep this and all the other papers that you are given.
